If your computer case has become boring to you, you could try to pimp it up and make it cooler, flashier, darker, funny or try something completely new. You can use a variety of things to make your case interesting, but try to avoid touching the components inside the case, and keep in mind that you will have to open it sometime.

There are many things you can do to your computer case, you just need the right gear and a bit of creativity. You can use many things when making a custom computer case, you can use toys or some parts of toys, action figures, and you can use some USB gadgets and implement them on your work. You can use some old piece of electrical device you are not using anymore like video recorder or something similar. Also people use LED lights because it can be really flashy. If you want to make a custom computer case it would be nice to draw it first and make some schematic for it so you can have a preview of the case. You can adjust your schematic and plan the best build for your custom case.

You must have in mind that you need to leave enough room for accessing USB ports, hubs and other. You will basically need glue mostly, and rethink before starting. See if you have everything you need before pimping your computer case. If you make some error you can try to fix it immediately. You could go on the internet and search for custom computer cases because that way you can get inspiration and you can see what kinds of customizations are possible, for some you will need some skill for others not but there are custom made cases that require a lot of knowledge in technique to be built.

Custom cases can look really good, people usually build themed custom computer cases, and themes go from gaming, movies, and characters to unusual cases that look like a fridge, stadium and other. You can try to be as original as you can be and make some unique case. Try to use a variety of items to make the case better looking and if you are doing a themed one, try to make your case theme based without jumps from the subject. You can make custom case that fits your computers environment to, you can also try to embed your case to your computer table by customizing the table itself. Try to avoid jamming the case inside the table without a chance to get it out.

Main thing when making a custom computer case is access, after that you should think about the theme and materials and finally about the sole process of customization. Customization can be time consuming and usually the results are astonishing and really worth the time spent.

Take what you need and start making some prototype pimped unique computer case of yours, make it so that you can enjoy it, after that people will just be positively shocked on site.

How Much Power Does Your Computer Need?

Posted on June 23rd, 2009 by thegreenbug

The power supply is one of the most important components in your personal computer tower, if not the most important. It supplies power to other components in your computer.

Power supplies usually look like metal boxes and their place in computer is at the back of personal computer’s tower.

There are many variations of power supplies. There are stronger ones which are usually used for computers with components that need much power, and there are ones that are not so strong for some older machines. Supplies now go from 300-1400 W. Stronger gaming machines usually require around 500 W, and machines that are used for rendering or modeling/animating in 3D environment programs should use 800-1400 power supplies.

Power supplies can fail to turn on. Your system could randomly reboot itself if your power supply is lacking. When a strong electrical surge hits the power supply it can even destroy the other components in your personal computer.

To see if your power supply is not working you can use the power supply tester, you can buy it because it is really cheap and a good thing to have.  You can also open the personal computer’s case to see if there is any physical damage, you can also check cables and connectors because your power supply should be connected to everything inside the computer’s tower. Power supplies are always better when they are stronger than 400 W, it is recommended to have at least 450 W if you use your personal computer for gaming, internet browsing and/or working on some minor things. There are machines that need really strong power supplies like server machines for example and other strong machines that need a lot of coolers to work normally because their sole components need much power and strong coolers waste a lot of energy as well.

You should be careful when you choose your power supply, because there are a lot of companies that create them and some are of a higher quality than others. You should also pay attention on how strong your personal computer is and what kind of power supply it needs. If you alone don’t know what power supply you need, you should take advice from someone that knows, or you could speak with people you are buying your power supply from. It is really risky to take a power supply that is not strong enough. It could even work normally for some time, but then create serious damage to your components at some point.

Power supplies are really sensitive hardware and you should really keep an eye on the dust and smoke, because it could easily gather on the cooler of the power supply and make it stop working, or slower the speed of its fan. That could cause your power supply to overheat and it could make some serious damage to your personal computer. So if you are experienced with computers you could open the power supplies’ case and clean the fan of the cooler. You could use a vacuum cleaner and try to clean the dust in the case of the power supply.
